Saraswati Puja Vrat

Saraswati is the Goddess of divine knowledge, learning, music, arts and culture. She bestows on her devotees clarity of ideas and thought, high level of knowledge and the ability to reason out. She is the paragon of purity, grace, knowledge and beauty and is represented in a shimmering white attire and holds a book in one of her hands and musical instrument called veena in her other hands. Observe the Saraswati Puja vrat with earnest devotion in order to invoke the blessings of this deity of higher intellect.

Observing the Saraswati Puja Vrat:

You can observe the Saraswati Puja Vrat on a Monday as this day belongs to the moon which represents the mind. To obtain enlightenment, gnana or knowledge, a devotee’s mind should be clear and pure. Observing the fast or the vrat depends on the physical condition of the devotee.

Begin the worship of Goddess Saraswati by chanting the following shlokas:

Ganesh Shloka:

“Shuklaambara Dharam Vishnum Shashi Varnam Chatur Bhujam Prasanna Vadanam Dhyaayet Sarva Vighna Upashaanthaye”

Goddess Saraswati Shloka:

“Saraswati Namastubhyam Varde Kamroopani
Vidya Aarambham Karishyami Siddhi Bhavatu May Sada
Saraswati Gayatri Mantra
Om Vakdeviyai cha Vidhmahe, Virinji Pathniyai cha Dheemahe,
Thanno Vani Prachodayath.”
